Before we can even think about how to control power, I do believe that it would be a good gesture to define what we call power.
According to me, Power is the ability to change your life, to shape your perceptions, to make things work for you and not against you.
When I was a kid, I was very naive and I thought the world was a place where each and everything happened transparently just as it was supposed to be.
I thought each and every occurrence was just.
But how wrong I was. Later,I found out that what we see from the outside is completely different from the inside.
Behind all the faces that we see be it business, politics, institutions out there, there is a struggle for power through politics.
I later came to learn that politics is played in all these endeavours and the struggle for power is constant.
When all this came to me, I realized that knowing how to hold onto power might be one of the most important things we need in order to succeed at our goals be it winning a political office, building a successful business or even running a charity organisation.
Today, I will share with you some tips on how you can be able to take and control power and use it for your benefit to achieve your ambitions.
1.Never outshine the master.
When you are yearning for power, you must avoid being greedy to the extent of outshining your master. Some masters desire that all fame comes towards them and not to their subordinates.
The subordinates are supposed to be singing their praises not being praised.
Always make those above you feel comfortably superior.
In your desire to please and impress your master, do not go too far in displaying your talents because in so doing you will inspire fear and insecurity.
Always make your masters appear more brilliant than they are and you will attain the heights of power.
2.Never put too much trust in friends, learn how to use enemies.
Always be careful with friends because they will betray us easily because of envy being aroused.
Friends can become spoiled and also tyrannical.
Hiring a former enemy is a better decision because he will be more loyal than friends and he has more to prove.
Truth betold, you have more to fear from friends than from enemies.If you do not have enemies ensure that you create one.
3.Conceal your intentions.
Ensure that you keep people off-balance and in the dark by making sure that you do not reveal the purpose behind your actions.
If they have no clue what you are up to, they cannot prepare a defense.
Guide them far along in the wrong path,envelope them in smoke enough and by the time they realize your intentions it is too late.
4. Always say less than necessary.
Powerful people always say less and this is their way of intimidating and impressing others.
The more you say, more likely you are to say something foolish.
5.Guard your reputation with your life.
Reputation is a true cornerstone of power and therefore you will need to guard it jealously.
When your reputation slips, you become vulnerable and can be attacked from all sides and angles.
You should always be alert and uncover them before they even happen.
Through reputation alone, you easily intimidate your enemies and win.
Learn to destroy your enemies by opening holes in their reputation.
Then stand aside and let public opinion hang them.
6.Court attention at all costs.
Everything is judged by it’s appearance, the truth is that what is unseen counts for nothing.
Never let yourself get lost in the crowd, instead ensure that you stand out.
Make yourself a magnet of attention by appearing larger, more colorful and also more mysterious than other masses out there.
7.Get others to do the work for you but always take the credit.
Make use of the knowledge, skills and ideas of other people to further your cause.This will not only save you valuable time and energy.
This will give you a god-like aura of efficiency and speed.
Never do yourself what others can do for you. In the end, your helpers will be forgotten and you will be remembered.
8.Make other people come to you,use bait if necessary.
When you force the other person to act, you are in control.It is always better to make your opponents come to you, abandoning his own plans in the process.Lure him with fabulous gains, then attack. The cards are in your hands.
9.Win through your actions, never through argument.
Winning through an argument can result in resentment and the reaction that it stirs up will last longer and is stronger than any change in opinion.
It is much more powerful to get others to agree with you through actions, without saying a word.
10.Learn to keep people dependent on you.
In order for you to maintain your independence, you must always be needed and wanted.
The more you are relied on, the more freedom you have.
Make people depend on you for their happiness and prosperity and you have nothing to fear.
Never teach them enough so that they can do without you.
