HOW TO HANDLE THE SCARCITY MINDSET

When I was still a kid, I lived in a home where we lacked very many things. I can boldly say it out without fear or favor that we were poor.

We did not have enough food to fill our empty stomachs, the clothes we had were not enough and I for one had only one pair of trouser that I would wash at night and put on the following day along with my one t-shirt. 

I had only a pair of shoes that I wore on each and every occasion be it going to church or school. 

So I can also boldly say that the background that I have has been littered with a scarcity mindset, I have never had enough since childhood. 

And I am also very sure that there are very many people around the world that are suffering from the scarcity mindset.

 They have never had enough and they might never have enough in their life time. 

I have a friend of mine who has three wardrobes in his house that are full of clothes, most of which he has never put on but whenever he is walking past a boutique or a fashion outlet and has some money in his pocket, he always finds himself buying more and more of those clothes. 

To him, shopping has become an addiction rather than something to acquire the necessities in life.

 But if I could ask one fundamental question, how many clothes are enough for a human being? 

Okay let me phrase the question differently how many clothes can a human being put on in a week?

 If you are to put on one outfit per day for  a week, this simply means that you will put on seven outfits for the whole week. 

Then I would follow up with another question then why do people have many wardrobes full of unworn clothes? 

 The answer is simple,the problem is these people always feel like they do not have enough even though they already have more than enough already.

 The truth is that if you have millions of dollars in your bank account and you still feel like you do not have enough, then you will never have enough money. 

So now that we know what it means to have a scarcity mindset, what can we do to move away from this mindset of never having enough money, time, food, clothes and other needs to having more than we need? 

Am going to share with you some of the techniques that I have used to help get out this mindset of never having enough called the scarcity mindset and moving towards the abundance mindset.

1. Have gratitude for what you have.

One of the easiest ways to avoid the trap of never having enough things in our life is to first and foremost to appreciate the things that we already do have.

 Appreciate the things that you already have and be thankful for those things that you are able to enjoy at the moment. 

Enjoy the clothes that you have now and be happy for having those clothes simply because there are people out there who do not even have what you undermine now. 

Appreciate the fact that you are able to have food and water on your table because there are people out there who are sleeping hungry and surviving on handouts. 

When you are able to appreciate the little favours in form of offers that the universe has been able to gift you, it will be easy for you to kill the desire for more things like more money, more clothes, more cars or even more houses.

 In short, gratitude will help you to get out of the scarcity mindset, the mindset of never having  enough.

2. Reframe your thinking and gain control.

One way of getting out of the scarcity mindset that makes you to never have enough is to change the way you think. 

In order to beat the scarcity mindset, you should start having positive thoughts. 

Accept that the possessions that you have are enough.

 You can start using positive affirmations like I lack nothing and I have everything I need. 

These affirmations if practiced very often will eventually bring a change into your mind and bring an abundant lifestyle in your life.

3. Seek guidance and counseling.

When you want to get out of the habit of never having enough, you might need the help of counsellor who will teach you the different techniques that can be used to get out of the scarcity mindset. 

You will need to get a trained counsellor who understands scarcity and abundance in details so that you can gain from their help.  

I hope these tips will help a person out there who feels like he will never have enough things in life be it time, money, clothes, cars food or any other thing. Good luck.
