He also balanced sports activities with academics effectively.

Ham Serunjogi competed in swimming and was among the team that represented Uganda at the Olympics alongside Ugandan swimmer, fellow schoolmate Jamila Lunkuse.

After completing his primary school education, Ham Serunjogi joined Agakhan high school in Nairobi, Kenya.

After completing his high school education, Ham got a scholarship to study at Grinell college in  the United States where he graduated with an undergraduate degree.

While at University, he met his future cofounder called Majid with whom they would later start the company called Chipper Cash.

After University, Ham Serunjogi worked at Facebook. According to  Ham, he got the job through unorthodox ways.

He sent an email to Sheryl Sandberg asking for a job and he was told to apply online.

After a few weeks,  interveiws were organised and he got an internship at Facebook which later turned into a job.

Ham worked at Facebook for two years before he quit to start Chipper Cash.

Ham  said that he got the idea to start Chipper Cash when they were discussing about the new emerging technologies like cryptocurrencies with his friend and college mate Majid.

He realised that it was very expensive to send money to Africa from the United States and Europe and even within Africa simply because each country has it's own currency and there are charges across borders for every transaction.

Ham Serunjongi and his friend Majid wanted to provide a free way of transferring money to Africa and so they came up with Chipper Cash.

In the beginning it was hard to get investors but as the idea took off, they came on board.

Among some of the investors were people like Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder.

Ham Serunjongi is an inspiration to all aspiring entrepreneurs in Uganda.
