HOW TO HANDLE HARD TASKS

By Matata Mercy

It is a common habit for us to avoid doing hard tasks by either putting them off or just by distracting ourselves from them through other activities like watching lots of television programs or engaging in drugs and alcohol.

It is very understandable that doing a hard task might feel overwhelming or daunting but the truth is that it can be done.

The fact is that if we can do these hard tasks and complete them then we can be able to create a great impact in a specified period of time.

Today i would like to give you some tips on how to perform hard tasks easily and accomplish them in time. These are tips that people do know but will always dismiss.

1. Start by doing a small bit of the hard task.

Most people will not agree with me about this but it actually works.

If you are supposed to work on a very big report that you are to hand in to your manager, start by writing the first two paragraphs. Then stop and take a break and resume later.

This will increase your ability to write this big report and you will gain the confidence to continue working on the report until you bring it to an end.

2. Practice making a choice and trusting it.

If you find yourself frozen in a situation where you have many options and you do not know which to go with, don't delay just make a choice and trust that it will work out best.

Believe that you will be able to deal with the consequences of your choice.

This practice frees you up since all you do is choose, choose and choose without burning too much ot your time in analysing your choices.

Choose quickly and move on, then repeat.

3. Think of failure as a learning process

Most times we look at failure as something that is bad for us but if we could just embrace failure and use it as a learning tool, how better would we become?

To us failure means we are foolish, inadquate, incompetent  and unworthy. But if we frame failure as nothing but a learning process where we learn something new then it will free us.

 These tips take practice.

Start with the first item  and then you can get into the practice of focusing on hard tasks in small bits.

You will be shocked by the amount hard tasks that you are able to crush in the long run.
