BIOGRAPHY AND INSPIRING STORY OF FORMER UGANDAN ANGLICAN BISHOP STANLEY NTAGALI

 Stanley Ntagali is the retired Archbishop of Uganda and has been serving as the Archbishop of Uganda since the year 2012 where he was the head of the Church of Uganda and also at the same time he was the Bishop of Kampala Diocese.

 Ntagali was born on the 1st of March in the year 1955 in the Western part of Uganda in the district called Kabale district.

 His father was called Ernest and his mother was called Molly. When he was sixteen years old, Ntagali and his family decided to migrate to another district called Hoima district found in the western part of Uganda.

Stanley Ntagali has attended Bishop Tucker Theological College where he studied theology and also trained for ordained ministry. 

He later graduated with a certificate in Theology in the year 1981. Ntagali later continued his studies for ordination and later completed his Bachelors degree in Divinity from  St. Paul's University which is found in Kenya in a place called Limuru. 

 He later pursued a Masters of Arts degree in theology and development at the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies which is actually associated with Middlesex University in the year 2000.

 In the year 1981, Ntagali was ordained to start work in the Church of Uganda. Ntagali did missionary work in the areas of Karamoja until the year 1986. 

After that he served as a parish priest in the region of Bunyoro Kitara from the year 2000  until the year 2002. 

In the year 2003 he started working as the provincial secretary until the year 2004. On the 19th of December in the year 2004,  Ntagali was consecrated  as Bishop of the newly created Diocese of Masindi-Kitara by the then Archbishop Henry Orombi.

 Ntagali became the first bishop to be consecrated by Orombi. Stanley was later elected to be the next Archbishop  of Uganda and this was done by the secret ballot that was carried out by all the 34 bishops of the Church of Uganda.

 This was done on the 22nd of June in the year 2011. Stanley Ntagali was later installed as the Archbishop on the 16th of December in the year 2012 and the event was held at St. Paul's Cathedral which is found in Namirembe.

 In addition to serving as the Archbishop of Uganda, Stanley Ntagali also served as the bishop of the Diocese of Kampala. And therefore his official position was the Archbishop of Uganda and also the Bishop for the Diocese of Kampala. 

On the 1st of March in the year 2020, Stanley Ntagali resigned from his position as the Archbishop of Uganda and was later replaced by the Archbishop elect Samuel Stephen Kazimba Mugalu on the 28th of August in the year 2019. 

He has now become the ninth Archbishop of Uganda. In his own view,  the former Archbishop Ntagali supported the ordination of women as Priests and also Bishops.  

Ntagali was also a strong supporter of the Anti-homosexuality bill that was enacted in the year 2014.

 In the year 1974, Archbishop Ntagali got married to a woman called Beatrice and the couple has four sons and also one daughter together. 

Recently the news headlines were painted with the allegations of the retired Archbishop  Ntagali having a sexual affair  with a married woman who is called Ms Judith Tukamuhabwa. 

This woman was alleged to have filed for divorce from her former husband Tugumehabwe.

 Stanley Ntagali is an  inspiration to all those out there who would love to serve the Lord by joining the priest hood and Church of Uganda to offer themselves for leadership.
