TURNING YOUR GOALS INTO YOUR HABITS

By Matata Mercy

All of us do have goals and dreams that we would love to achieve and see come to life. If you do not have goals in life, then it simply means that you are just existing and you are not living.

Habits vs. Goals: A Look at the Benefits of a Systematic Approach ...

Achieving the goals that you have set for yourself is not going to be an easy feat and you will need to design some strategies that you can use to help you to easily be able to achieve those goals that you have set for yourself.

One of the ways is for you to back up your goals with daily habits that will help you to take action and move towards achieving your goals.

For example if you have set for yourself a goal of writing a book, in order for you to achieve your goal then you will need to develop the daily habit of writing.

You will need to learn to write for atleast an hour everyday. If you are not writing frequently but you do want to write a book then there is a high chance that your book will actually remain a fantasy rather than come to life and become a reality.

In simple terms, you might never write a book. When you truly want to achieve your goal, you will need to ensure that you develop those habits that will help you to make it easy to achieve those goals and stick to those habits for the longhaul.

Be specific

When you are building your habits to help you to achieve your goals, you need to be very specific and know when you will be doing it, where you will be doing it and for how long you will be doing it.

For example if you are going to do exercises everyday as a support habit inorder to help you to lose weight, then you will need to know at what time you will be doing exercises, where you will be doing those exercises and also for how long.

You could say you are going to exercise at 9:00 am in your room for 45 minutes. This is now a specific habit that will help you exercise easily and whenever it is 9:00 am, all you will be thinking about is exercise.

But if you say you want to exercise everyday or regularly, you will end up slacking and might not achieve your goal of weight loss.

Which goals will you be capable of achieving if you turned those goals into daily habits?
