Gawaher is a music artist, singer and songwriter from Sudan who is well known for releasing Nubian and Shaabi music hit songs that have become very popular in the Arab world.
Gawaher was born in a place called Port-Sudan which is found in Sudan.
She has lived most of her early childhood and also her teenage life in her place of birth.
While she was still young, she developed a strong interest in music but since the music industry in her home country Sudan was not so vibrant, she decided to move to Egypt where the music industry was very vibrant with many famous singers and also the music record labels and kicked off her music career there.
While she was in Egypt, for the first few years she started performing as a belly dancer and also was a singer for the tourists there. Later on, she decided to change the format of her music when she discovered a music genre called Shaabi music.
In the year 1995, Gawaher was able to release her first music album which is called Strange Story and was signed under a label which is called Ibn Al Khatib.
The album was recorded in the Sudanese Arabic dialect and it was actually characterised by the nubian flavour that is traditional and then the sub-saharan production and also instrumentation is also very evident.
This album was not very successful that it helped her to be able to capture the attention of the poets, publishers and music producers who were actually shocked by the strong voice that she does have.
The album was later released after a year by a record label that is based in Saudi Arabia.
In the year 1996, Gawaher released her second album which was called Maret Aleyam. In this album she decided to collaborate with several Sudanese composers and also poets but was also able to write some of the songs herself.
She later left her first record label and signed a contract with another record label called High Quality and while there she switched her music stylefrom the Sudanese melodies to the Shaabi style of music.
While with the new label, she released her third music album which she called Telefonak and in that album she had hit songs like Hamada which was very successful and it also enabled her to be able to make music videos and was also able to perform during the television shows.
Some of the songs that Gawaher has been able to release are Samara,Heylo, Hamada, Maret Ayelam, Hekaya Garib,Enday, AnaLaka. Gawaher is an inspiration to all the youths out there most especially the girls who would love to join the music industry.
