BECOMING YOUR OWN AUTHORITY

By Matata Mercy

The world that we do live in is controlled most of the time by what i could call the authoritarians.

4 Unexpected Methods for Becoming an Authority on Nearly Any ...

These are the people who make the rules and also give orders on what to do and what not to do. Are you the kind of person who hates authority?

Do you hate being tossed around and told what to do each and everyday of your life?

If you do, then you are actually in good company with me. I have also been in a situation where the people in authority actually ruled my life and i felt powerless at the time but now i know better.

When i was still a kid in school, i remember very vividly how we were ordered around and told what to do and what not to do.

You had to be in class early and had to make sure you attended all the classes, did the tests and the assignments, even sat for the exams at the end of every term or year.

There was no negotiating. You either had to do it or you had to do it, no middle ground. That is what most of us to went through school experienced.

This behaviour continued even in our highschools and University education.

At University although there was some form of freedom, but still many students succumbed to the authority that they had been conditioned to earlier on  in their education.

At the University, you could either attend or not attend any lectures if you wanted  to although many students did attend, the fact was that these same students actually did not want to attend but the fear of authority was forcing them to do things the didnot want to do.

Most lecturers and professors would tell them that they would fail them if they did not attend, in addition parents also were putting alot of pressure on  the students who were often stressed.

This idea of obeying authority is what the work environment in the corporate companies desire to have in their employees.

One reason why most corporations seek for people with degrees and other qualifications is that they do know that schools and universities train students to obey authority.

This simply means that employing these people in their companies will be good idea since they will obey authority and be able to do the things that they are told to do without any kind of resistance.

Even with low pay, most people will still obey authority just to keep their jobs because they have been conditioned to do so.  So how do you become your own authority under these conditions?

You can start small. Take the first step by saying no to anything that you feel is trying to take away your power to make decisions on your own.

You can decide to quit your job by simplying showing up at your boss's office and tell him "Iquit".

Don't worry about what you are going to do next, simply gaining the courage to disobey authority is a good step ahead of very many people out there who have been caught up in the web of authority by fear and could spend their entire lives living lik robots.

Do you want to live like a robot? Or would you love to be more of a human being who has brains to make decisions on their own?

Don't succumb to a mediocre life simply because you fear  the unknown out there.

If you are a student, you have the power to make the decision to either attend classes or not, the  power to sit for exams or not.

No one should tell you what to do and what not to do.

You already know what you want and should ensure that you follow your path with a heart. Do not wait to have regrets in life because someone told you to do something that you did not want.

If you want to start your own business, quit that job full of authoritarian leaders and follow your dreams, run the business the way you want to without anyone else making decisions for you.

If you are a student who would like to do music, start recording your songs and learning how to play an instrument instead of attending boring history classes that may not even have any significant value in your life.

Authority can derail you from doing the things you want, the way you want them to be done.

I urge you to take charge of your life by disobeying authority and doing what is necessarily important to you.
