BEATING THE SENSE OF ENTITTLEMENT

How many times have you complained about not having opportunities and yet you actually do believe that you should be able to have those opportunities in your hands?

You might be complaining that you are not getting a job yet you do have a degree under your belt, have a Masters degree and several other qualifications out there.

You strongly believe that just because you have a degree, you are entittled to a high paying job and a nice car.

I have been there and always complained about how i was not able to get the jobs yet i believed i qualified for those jobs.

Many people have been there and many are still going to be in that boat for a long time.

The truth of the matter is that most people who dwell in the sense of entittlement boat actually have not done enough to deserve what they are asking for.

Having a degree doesnot actually mean that you actually qualify for a high paying job, you will still need to learn alot of things out there.

For example you will need to learn to associate properly with people around you, can you fit in the company's culture or better still do you know how to work as a team with other people out there. How good are your communication skills.

You could be having a degree but you do not even know how to communicate  and express yourself well. How will you be abl to talk to customers of the business that employs you.

In my own opinion, the best way to be able to beat the sense of entittlement is to keep learning by just becoming a student throughout your life. If you accept to learn from scratch in whatever field you are in, you will one day be able to get hold of opportunities out there.

Having a degree doesnot mean you should stop learning and just wait for opportunities, you can add other skills to yourself to make you more markatable and on demand in the long run.

For my case, after failing to land a job post University, i embarked on improving my writing skills by starting a blog and also started learning new programming skills in form of Java that i had no idea about a few years back at University.

I learnt the hardway that dwelling on your past achievements will not move the needle foward but you need to constantly keep improving yourself and make yourself better than yesterday.

I urge you not to dwell on the past but move foward by learning new skills and exploring the things that you are not familiar with and your life will definitely be an exciting one in the longrun.
