When i was still young, i was fascinated by people like Bill Gates, the story of how he was able to teach himself to code and later on use his coding skills to build an operating system which was actually the first user friendly operating system at the time called Windows.
All these efforts later evolved into a company called Microsoft corporation years later.
I cannot also forget about the story of Mark Zuckerberg and his friends coming up with a social networking website called Facebook.
They used their coding skills to build a website that is now connecting people all over the world online. All these stories inspired me and i have always wanted to learn how to code.
Despite the fact that i took up an Engineering course and did some introduction to computer programming where by i learnt the basics of programming through a programming language called C++programming, it just inpsired me more and i got more interested in writing computer programs and wanted to learn all that i could at that time.
Sadly, we only did Introduction to computer programming for only one semester and after completing the final exams in the course unit, there was no more to learn about it.
I remember after the end of that semester, during the holidays, i tried to teach myself how to build websites. Using Google, i learnt of a scripting language called HTML/CSS and during that time i learnt alot about the front end development and that was that.
From that time, i always had this strong desire to learn more but ignored it simply because i thought i was already taking alot on my plate in terms of learning since that time, i was still studying for my Bachelors degree in Engineering and since the course was very hectic, i gave my programming skills a break and concentrated on completing the course.
Three years after the course, i realized i still had the desire to continue learning and improving my coding skills and this time i decided to take on a new programming language called Java.
Currently, iam seriously teaching myself Java and learning step by step and i hope i will continue on this path until iam able to create something out of these skills whether it is an app or a video game. All i want is to be able to make good use of these new skills that iam acquiring.
If you learn to code, you will be able to bring ideas that you thought were impossible to reality and that is what drives me.
I do not focus so much on the money but on the experience of building something new out of nothing and i would also love to have the memories of working in this sector which evolves almost every year. It is something that iam very passionate about.
Learning to code is a challenge that iam willing to take and i will keep doing it one step at a time until iam able to get some tangible results, although i do not even know where all this will lead me to.
