BIOGRAPHY AND INSPIRING STORY OF RICHARD BRANSON, FOUNDER OF VIRGIN GROUP OF COMPANIES


Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson is a British Entrepreneur, investor, philanthropist and also an author who is popularly known for being the founder of Virgin Group of Companies which is responsible for controlling over 400 companies that are run in various sectors.

Richard Branson was born on the 18th of July in the year 1950 in a place called Blackheath which is found in the city of London in England. His mother was called Eve Branson who was a former ballet dancer and also air hostess.

 His father was called Edward James Branson who worked as a barrister. Richard Branson attended Stowe School which is actually an independent school found in Buckinghamshire until he reached the age of sixteen. Branson suffered from dyslexia and as a result he performed poorly at school and decided to drop out of school. 

On his last day at school, his headmaster reportedly told him he would either end up in prison or would become a millionaire.

While still young, Richard Branson developed a strong desire to become an entreprenuer. Earlier on  Richard Branson picked interest in the world of business and even tried to grow and also sell Christmas trees but all these were failed attempts .

When he was at the age of 16, Branson decided to venture into business and started his first business venture which is called Student Magazine in the year 1966. In the year 1970, he decided to start a mail-order record  business and after which he was able to open up a chain of record stores which were called Virgin Records that later became to be known as Virgin Megastores in the year 1972.

Richard Branson's Virgin brand started growing very quickly most especially when he started Virgin Atlantic and also expanded Virgin Records music label. In the year 2004, Richard Branson started a space flight corporation which is called Virgin Galactic which is based at Mojave Air and also Space Port.

In the year 2000 in the month of March, Richard Branson was knighted at the Buckingham as a result of the services that he did offer in the world of entrepreneurship. After starting student magazine, he used the magazine to advertise the popular albums of music artists at the time and this helped in driving the sales of the records.

 Richard Branson interveiwed very many prominent personalities at the time in the late 1960s and these included Mick Jagger and also R.D Laing. Richard Branson's record business sold records at prices that were lower than those of high street outlets.

In the year 1971, Richard Branson started a record shop back in Oxford street in the city of London.

After earning enough money from the record store, Richard Branson decided to launch a record label which is called Virgin Records alongside his friend called Nick Powell.

He was able to sign various music artists and music band like Rolling Stones, UB40, XTC, Sex Pistols and many others. In the year 1984, Virgin Atlantic Airways and Virgin Cargo was started by Richard Branson and he later formed Virgin Holidays in the year 1985.

 Richard Branson later launched other businesses like Virgin Mobile, Virgin Fuels, Virgin Trains, Virgin Express, Virgin Media, Virgin Comics and Animation, Virgin Health Bank, Virgin Racing, Virgin Hotels and also Virgin Galactic.
