Chad Meredith Hurley is an American internet entrepreneur and also a media mogul who is popularly for being one of the co-founders of the video sharing platform called YouTube and also the founder of another company called Mixbit.
Chad Hurley was born on the 24th of January in the year 1977 in a place called Reading which is found in Pennsylvania in the United States of America.
He was the second child of Don and also Joan Hurley and spent his childhood life in Birdsboro in Pennsylivannia and has two sibling, an older sister called Heather and a younger brother who is called Brent.
While still in his childhood days, Hurley developed strong interests in the Arts and then later he became interested in computers and also electronic media when he was still his high school.
He studied at Twin Valley Highschool where he always stood out as a runner during the competitions.
After completing highschool in the year 1995, Chad Hurley joined Indiana University of Pennyslyvania where he obtained a Bachelors of Arts degree in Fine Art and was able to graduate successfully in the year 1999.
After completing his degree Hurley went on to work for the e-commerce payment compqny called Pay-Pal where he worked as a graphic designer and was responsible for designing the original logo of Paypal.
It was during the time when he was working at Paypal that he met Steve Chen and Jawed Karim with whom together they started the video sharing platform called Youtube.
Chad Hurley helped in building the tagging and also the video sharing capabilities of Youtube. On the 16th of October in the year 2006, Google bought Youtube for $1.65 billion dollars and after the deal, Hurley was able to walk away with about $345.6 million dollars which was the compensation for the shares that he did own in the video sharing platform.
While his fellow co-founders, Steve Chen received about $326.2 million and Jawed Karim received about $64.6 million in compensation.
Chad Hurley who at the time was also the CEO of the video sharing platform decided to step down and become as an advisor of Youtube.
In the year 2013, Chad Hurley decided to launch another company called Mixbit in the month of August. Mixbit was a company that would help in developing software that was used for editing videos on the smartphones.
This application resembles other video recording apps like Instagram, Vine and even Vyclone. The limit of clips that it can handle in 256 clips.
It also possessed the same editing tools just like the other competitor apps out there. Mixbit was later acquired by another company called Blue Jeans that renamed the app Zeen in the month of August in the year 2018.
Chad Hurley has been able to invest in many other ventures like in the NBA where he is also a part-owner of the Golden State Warriors and also the Major Soccer League team Los Angeles Football club.
Chad Hurley is an inspiration to all the youths around the world who are aspiring to become great entrepreneurs and also the ones who are planning to launch their own ventures and companies out there.
