MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT HAVE REJECTED THE PROPOSAL TO PUSH THE PUBLIC HOLIDAYS FROM WEEKENDS TO WEEK DAYS

The Ugandan parliament has rejected the proposal that was put in place to shift the public holidays from the weekends to the week days.

Ms Juliet Kyinyamatama Suubi, the woman MP

Ms Juliet Kyinyamatama who is the women member of parliament for Rakai district said that public holidays do not make sense when they take place on weekends.

She gave an example of Women's day which will take place on March 8 on a Sunday saying that the day will not be given any good attention that it deserves since it will take place on a weekend and therefore she suggested that it should have been moved to a week day.

The motion was later rejected by Members of Parliament when Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga asked the house to second the motion and vote for it.
