One of the biggest evils that we do have in this country called Uganda is corruption. One time Uganda was ranked as the third most corrupt country in the world by the World Bank and also research done by other organisations like the United Nations.

With the  high levels of corruption in this country, it looks like there is not much that the ruling NRM government can do to fight corruption.

It can be seen clearly that some of the officials who are close to the President are the most corrupt in this government but they are always protected by the head of state.

Today i unveil to you some of the most corrupt government institutions in Uganda that are miss using Uganda's resources and taking it backwards.

Here is a list of the most corrupt government institutions in Uganda.

1. Uganda Police

The most corrupt government institution in Uganda is the Uganda police according to  report that was done by research conducted by Price Water Coopers, World Bank and also the United Nations in conjuction with Human rights commission.

It was discovered that on average, a police man takes atleast a bribe of around 300,000 Ugandan shillings as bribe.

Some of the most corrupt police officers are those who do work on the traffic flow and also those who detain suspects in cells. For all Ugandans out there, the next time a police man asks you for a bribe, do not be surprised, it is part of their DNA.

Given that most police officers are strongly attached to the NRM government and their most important work is to keep this NRM regime in power, there is nothing that will be done to them, we can say they are above the law.

2.  Judiciary

Another corrupt government institution is the Judiciary that ia responsible for vetting suspects that have been arrested and convincted of  a crime.

The Judiciary which is responisble for vetting suspects is now one of the most corrupt.

Some of the judges in this country receive bribes and the case against these suspects die and sometimes there is also another interference from the NRM government that normally ends up making the cases die especially those cases that involve elections and the most popular one recently of removing the presidential age limit.

3. State House

The state house  was ranked as one of the most corrupt state institutions in Uganda. It is not news that we have seen the Ugandan president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni giving out loads of cash to youths and different women groups around the country.

If this kind of gesture is not corruption, then i do not know what i can say to you. We have seen cash flowing out of State house like there is a machine making money inside there.

4. Bank of Uganda

One of the most important government institutions called Bank of Uganda has been mentioned in big scandals involving the printing of currency notes in excess. If that is not a sign of corruption then i do not know what you mean by corruption.

Bank of Uganda whose major role among others is to ensure that the inflation rates are kept low has been involved in this scandal of printing notes and also allegations for the collapse of Crane bank in the recent times.

If Bank of Uganda cannot operate efficiently, then  i do not know whether the economy of this country will ever be stable.

5. Uganda National Roads Authority

One of the top reasons why we have roads that are developing potholes very fast just after they have been made is the fact that  they are substandard and this is because some of the funds that were meant for the roads were embezzled and poor quality materials were used to make the roads.

The high levels of corruption in Uganda is keeping the state of our roads in bad shape which are actually impassable.

6. Medical Health facilities

In the Uganda that we are living in today, you cannot be able to get treatment in hospitals if you cannot give out some money to some of the health officials.

We have seen very many people die in Ugandan hospitals simply because they do not have money to give out as bribe to those who are supposed to be offering health services to them.

If that is not corruption then i do not know what you mean by the art of corruption.
