Age does not matter when you are actually busy making the right moves and steps
There is a very big talk about this generation of menials being lazy and not fit to work in corporate cultured companies.
I personally do not think this generation is lazy but i do believe that this generation has been blessed with alot of opportunities in it's hands more than they can actually use.
With these enormous opportunities available to them, it has rubbed the feathers of those who did come before them in the wrong way and therefore have ended up accusing this generation of being lazy.
In my opinion, millenials are not harmful to anyone instead they just want to take advantage of the available opportunities and use these opportunities for their own good while they are still available.
Here are things that you should consider when building something of your own in the modern age.
1. You should first define your lifestyle
The truth is that starting and growing up your business will most likely squeeze out every drop of energy from you if you intend to become an entrepreneur.
One thing you will need to consider is how your average day, week will be like when you take up the entrepreneurship life seriously.
Will your day involve meeting clients or it will involve creating products for your business or company?
You should not just think about owning a company but you should also think about the role that you will be performing within your company as an important thing to consider.
2. Who will fund your business?
One of the biggest challenges faced by millenials is funding when they are starting out their businesses.
Are you going to get funding from venture capitalists or are you going to bootstrap your business and use the money from the sell of your products to fund your company? This is one decision that will either break or make your business.
I have seen many entrepreneurs who got funding from venture capitalists and were even lucky enough to build amazing products before everything else burst into the flames and off the founders got a job at the nearest firm.
If you are able to sell your products or services to your customers and then use the money to fund your business, then you will be in a better place at controlling your business, have the freedom and also make better choices than a start-up that is being backed by Venture Capitalists.
3. Expect harsh business realities
In this modern age of social media, your business brand can easily be damaged when a customer takes his frustrations about a product onto Facebook or Twitter and drags your business.
This simply means that you will have to have very good customer care and also produce the best products on the market that can be able to solve those problems.
Your customer service should be on top of it's game and you should also employ a PR firm if you do have the resources.
4. Start with any industry
As a millenial entreprenuer most of the young people love doing things which are actually cool and exciting. Some of these ideas could be building mobile apps, or developing games and others.
But there are also other industries that might not be very interesting but they could be very profitable in the long run. In order to gain in such industries, you should stop avoiding these industries and invest in them also.
