This woman was called Alice Lakwena and she was brewing alcohol which is locally called malwa in her home village when according to her that she received a revelation from God to help in the liberation of Uganda.

According to her there were rituals that could be performed and these rituals would prevent bullets from penetrating the skin.

Lakwena was able to mobilise very many former military men and women to join her movement assuring them of full victory against their sworn enemy called the National Resistance Army at the time which was led by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Lakwena's movement used elementary weapons like stones and sticks for their warfare.

The stones were usually smeared with certain substances and according to their belief, the stones after being smeared, if they were thrown at their enemies then they would be in position to explode like bombs hence killing their enemies.

Her army would even be in position to announce to their enemies the time when they would be attacking them and surely they would come and raid the place be it  a military barracks, that was how strong and bold they were.

This movement managed to make some progress and capture areas around Northern Uganda and also parts of Eastern Uganda.

Lakwena and her comrades were finally defeated during a battle in Busoga region at a place called MagaMaga where her army was rounded up and others managed to escape.

Lakwena herself was not involved in the ambush but had taken refuge in a certain forest across the river that separated the battle ground from her hidden place.

Alice Lakwena realising the defeat of her army, decided to flee to  neighboring country of Kenya where she lived in a refugee camp until her death.
