Peter Andreas Thiel who is popularly known as Peter Thiel is a German American entrepreneur, lawyer and a top business executive who is known to be one of the co-founders of Paypal which is an e-commerce company that helps in online payments.
He is also one of the founders of a company called Palantir technologies which is basically a software firm that is mainly involved in data analytics.
Peter Thiel is known to be one of the first people to invest in the social networking service company called Facebook.
Peter Thiel was born on the 11th of October in the year 1967 in a town called Frankfurt which is found in Germany.
Peter Thiel attended Stanford University where he studied philosophy and graduated in the year 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy. After obtaining his degree in philosophy, Peter Thiel joined the Stanford Law School where he graduated with law degree in the year 1992.
During his time at Stanford University, Peter Thiel founded a newspaper that was all about political correctness which was called The Standard Reveiw and he also wrote and was able to publish a book called The Diversity Myth which was based on political intolerance at the University.
He worked on the book with his co-author called David Sacks.
In the year 1998, Peter Thiel and some of his friends started a company which they called Confinity that was designed at the time to help in handling payments between palm pilots.
The payment company which Peter Thiel co-founded alongside with friends later merged with another company that was started by Elon Musk called X.com and they together formed a joint company called Paypal which is a payment service for online transactions.
Peter Thiel later became the Chief Executive and also the chairman of the company.
The company that was created to design a new world currency was mainly specialized in Internet money transfers and later it became very successful and this was as a result of it being used on the online market place called e-bay.
In the year 2002, e-bay decided to buy paypal for about $1.5 billion dollars and this transaction made Peter Thiel a multi millionaire who later invested part of that money into several other ventures like Facebook in the year 2004, and he also put up a hedge fund that he called Clarium Capital Management.
In the year 2004, Peter Thiel decided to start another company that he called Palantir Technologies alongside other cofounders and this was a data analytics firm and very many people criticised the company for being involved with CIA and many other government agencies out there.
This company also helped banks in detecting fraud and also handling other cybersecurity issues that arose.
In the year 2005, Peter Thiel decided to start a venture capital firm that was called Founders Fund. This venture capital firm later invested in companies like Airbnb,Lyft, and also Elon Musk's space exploration company called Space X.
In the year 2016, Peter Thiel decided to fund the lawsuits that were against the online media company called Gawker Media after it emerged that the company had called him gay on their blog.
In the year 2016 during the US Presudential elections, Peter Thiel became a strong and vocal supporter of presidential candidate Donald Trump who later emerged as the winner of the elections.
Peter Thiel also set up the Thiel Foundation that encourages teenagers to drop out of school and start their own businesses rather than going on to attend college.
