The crack down on the media industry in Uganda by the government has gone very far and wide.
After introducing the social media tax to curb the use of social media and stop Ugandans from expressing themselves on the social media platforms, the Ugandan government which is being headed by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has come back again to haunt Ugandan social media lovers by saying that they now want to register all the social media influencers in the country.
Following the arrest of people like Dr. Stella Nyanzi and Joseph Kabuleta over allegations of breaking the law called computer misuse act, these stubborn NRM government will do anything to protect it's power at all costs.
They are claiming that they would love to regulate the social media in the country but the truth of the matter is that these people just do not want people to reveal the bad things about this government.
They do not want Ugandan citizens to talk about the corruption that is rampant in the country or even the hospitals that do not have drugs or the police brutality that is rampant in the country.
Telling social media influencers to register is trying to control what they can post or not post on their pages indirectly.
As far as i know the founder of Facebook is not a Ugandan and is not the NRM government, so why use someone else's platform to earn money from it or tell them what to post and not post?
They would love to crack on the media and internet like china but they do not have the resources and competent people in their corrupt government to do that and so they just keep playing cat and mouse games with Ugandans.
Why should social media influencers register with the so called Uganda Communications Commission? Well, i say there is no reason why they should actually register with that damn thing called UCC.
If you are a social media influencer, then do not make that mistake of trying to get a license with these stupid people who are puppets for the NRM government. All they care about is being in power and nothing else.
As for me i will not register with them, period. Do you support UCC registering the social media influencers in Uganda?
