All our lives we have been told that education is the key to success and to most people that kind of education that they refer to is the formal education and nothing else.
They believe that sitting in classrooms and then getting those certificates and diplomas will guarantee them success in life.
If you have the chance to go to school, please do attend school but what about those who cannot go to school because of certain issues like lack of tuition or even they are not intelligent enough to be able to pass exams and tests though, personally i do not believe that intelligence of a human being can only be measured by how many marks you score in test or exam.
Today i will bring to you some of the successful entrepreneurs who dropped out of school but later on made it big in life by taking their future into their own hands. Here are some of the most successful school dropouts who changed the world.
1. Bill Gates
If you have not heard about Bill Gates then you must have been living under a rock for the last twenty years.
Bill Gates is the founder of Microsoft which is a software company that developed the first user friendly operating system called Windows that is powering most of the computers around the world.
Bill Gates dropped out of Havard University to concentrate on Microsoft and has on several occasions emerged as the richest man in the world or has always been at the top in the Forbes rich list.
2. Mark Zuckerberg
If you know Facebook, then you must be knowing it's founder who is called Mark Zuckerberg.
Facebook started at Havard University while Mark Zuckerberg was a student and as the company grew, he decided to take a leave of absence and drop out of college to concentrate his efforts in building the social network.
Today, Facebook is the biggest social network in the world and billions of people have signed up to the site and visit it each and everyday. This has made Mark Zuckerberg a billionaire not bad for a college dropout.
3. Richard Branson
British born entrepreneur Richard Branson dropped out of school at the age of 16 after his teachers told him that he would not become anything in life.
He decided to start a student Magazine that was successful and he expanded his business and built the Virgin brand starting with Virgin Records which was born out of his love for music and he has been able to start very many other companies under the Virgin brand and among some of these companies are Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Health, Virgin Mobile and many others.
His teachers were not able to see the future and that is what normally happens, truly the best revenge is massive success. Not bad for a dropout.
4. Larry Page and Sergy Brin
If you have ever used Google, you must be knowing the founders of the biggest search engine in the world and they are Larry Page and Sergy Brin.
Brin and Page meta when they were graduate students at Stanford University and they both decided to drop out of the Phd program that they were pursuing so that they could concentrate on the problem of organizing the world's information.
Larry Page developed a programme that he called Pageranking system that powered the small search engine that they had developed called Backrub at the time and later they called it Google.
The two friends decided to drop out of Stanford University so that they could concentrate on building their search engine which has become very successful making them billionaires.
5. Jack Dorsey
Twitter is one of the biggest socialnetworks in the world and it was founded by Jack Dorsey who also happens to be a college dropout.
Jack Dorsey dropped out of College and taught himself programming and then decided to start working on a microblogging platform called Twitter which has very few characters for the users to be able to communicate their messages easily popular called tweets.
Today, Twitter is one of the biggest social networks in the world just behind Facebook. Not bad for a college dropout.
