BIOGRAPHY: INSPIRING STORY OF RWANDAN SINGER, MISS SHANEL


Ruth Nirere who is popularly known as Miss Shanel is a  Rwandan music artist, singer, songwriter and actress.

Miss Shanel started her music career when she was still a child and was able to release two hit songs that at the time was meant to comfort and also be able to commemorate the people that survived the Rwandan genocide that took place in the 1994 and also the people who became the victims of the genocide in that year.

 She released the songs while she was still a secondary school student and since that time her songs have been played regularly during the commemoration of the genocide.

Miss Shanel released  her first song in the year 1998 that became very successful, the song was having a zouk tune and it was called Ndarota and it was picked off from her debut album that was having the same name and the album was later released that year.

In 2004, Miss Shanel was able to release two acapella songs that became wildly successful and it made her to become a celebrity in the country.

During this period her music had a mix of different genres in it and some of these were R&B, soul music, zouk and even some acoustic music. In 2009, Miss Shanel was able to release another music album that she called Narrow Road. This album contained alot of songs that were a reflection of the traditional Rwandan music styles.

Miss Shanel has been able to do musical collaborations with music artists from Uganda, Kenya and also her fellow Rwandan music artists. In the year 2012, Miss Shanel was able to perform before the Rwandan peace keepers who were situated in Darfur in South Sudan.

 In 2013, she decided to relocate to France so that she could be able to pursue a course in vocal performance.

In addition to her career in music, Miss Shanel has also been able to launch a career in acting and successfully becoming an actress.

 She has been able to successfully stare in movies like LongCoat, Avenir, The Mercy of the Jungle and many other movies.

 Due to her musical success, she has been able to get nominations for the Pearl of Africa Music awards three times and has also been able to win the Salax Award in the Best Female category.

 She is an inspiration to all the youths in Rwanda and especially the girls who would like to join the entertainment industry.
