Leila Kalanzi was born in the central region of Uganda in Masaka district. Leila Kalanzi went to St. Jude Primary School which is found in the central business district of Kampala and it was there that she was able to complete her primary school education.

After completing her primary school education, Leila Kalanzi joined Pride Academy where she studied up to senior four before dropping out of school to concentrate on her drama and acting career with the Bakayimbira drama actors.

Leila Kalanzi started doing drama and music when she was still a student in Pride Academy and she  was able to come into contact with the founder of Bakayimbira Drama actors  who is Charles Senkubuge when the group visited her school.

It was there that she was spotted by Charles Senkubuge who decided to recruit her into his group and  acting roles were assigned to her and he later discovered that she was actually good at acting and that is when she fully joined the group.

Her first time to travel out of Uganda was when the group travelled to Netherlands alongside John Segawa at the time and some of the friends that she made there urged her to remain there but she decided to travel back to her home country Uganda.

After coming back to Uganda with the Bakayimbira group members, she was offered a job at Radio Simba which is found in  Bukoto as a presenter and she was good at her job until she was convinced to join another radio station called CBS radio which has a bigger audience in the central region of Uganda.

She worked at CBS radio for six months before deciding to travel back to Europe and it was there that she did some odd jobs and also started styling people's hair as she was able to get clients through the friends that she had made there.

But unfortunately her stay was not long since she was arrested and detained for overstaying in Netherlands.

She was later deported back to Uganda and her job at CBS radio was no more and so she decided to look for a job elsewhere and was lucky enough to land a job at Bukedde FM.

Recently  as  of  May 2019, Leila Kalanzi landed another job on Sanyuka television which is one of the brands owned by Next Media Services  Limited but could not keep up with what the producers of the show wanted her to do and therefore she decided to quit.

She is single and not married. Leila Kalanzi is an inspiration to all the youths and women out there who are planning to  take up a career in comedy and also in the media industry.
