It is that time of the year especially the first quarter of the year when you start reflecting upon the things that you did last year that did not go well and also the lessons that you did pick up from those things that happened.

In a year there are very many things that do happen and you might not be able to pick up the lessons that you will learn from the things that you have failed to accomplish if you are not so keen on it.
Today i would like to look at some of the great lessons that i learnt during the course of the year 2018 and i do hope you will be able to pick up some critical lessons that will eventually improve your life and make you achieve your dreams.
1. Your next great opportunity will come from a place that you least expect
The truth be told, you may not be knowing where your next opportunity will be coming from and therefore you just need to be on the lookout for the next person that you will be talking to simply because this person might be opening the doors for you.
One day i went to the restaurant to have some breakfast and i met this guy who introduced himself to me as a manager of a company that offered loans to businesspeople and friendly interest rates around the country.
We had the meal and some small talk before departing our separate ways. Then some few weeks passed and i received a phone call from this man telling me that they needed a software developer to work on their new project.
I submitted my application to this man's company and before i knew it, i had landed a new deal.
When you are out there, have fun while talking to different kinds of people, you just never know where that conversation might end up giving you in return.
2. Meditation makes alot of sense
Before i joined the meditating group, i thought that this was just another activity where you waste alot of your valuable time not until i felt the power of meditation did i agree that it truly left you with something valuable in your life.
The act of meditating feels like it is going nowhere until you reach deep into your subconsciousness where the hidden treasures like patienceand stress relief do happen.
If you are not taking part in meditation, then you are not actually living.
3. Achieving massive change will take longer than you thought
If you want to make a very big change in your life, it will most likely take a longer time than you first envisioned.
Big changes in life will need sometime for them to be able to manifest fully into your life. In the year 2018, i put career change as one of the top goals that i wanted to achieve by the end of that year. Something which i thought would have happened in just a couple of weeks, ended up taking months to manifest.
It took me from the month of January up to the month of October 2018 for me to be able to take up my new career.
With the very many interviews and rejections that i got, i learnt that it takes a lot of time for a person to make massive change in their lives. The next big change in your life will take longer than you thought, so don't expect quick fixes.
4. Building momentum will take years but it will be witnessed in just months
I have been working on my side-hustle called blogging for years now and along the way i almost gave up and thought nothing was taking place.
I do not care if you are not a fun of blogging but there is one lesson that i learnt last year about life from the art of blogging.
I learnt that for years it will look like nothing is actually happening when you first start working on your side-hustle and then out of nowhere, with the assumption that you have put in enough work, you will gain alot of momentum very quickly.
I earned more money from my side-hustle this year than i actually thought was even possible. Some people might think that this was just an accident that occured but the truth is that i actually put in the work to earn it.
I have put four years of my life into this side-hustle and was able to touch the lives of a small group of people who were happy enough to pay me in return.
Momentum will show up when you have been able to create value for one human being and not millions of people.
What lessons did you learn last year that could change another person's life?
