Patrick Oboi Amuriat who is also commonly known as POA is a Ugandan Engineer, Educationist and Politician who is currently the president of the Forum of Democratic Change (FDC) political party.
Patrick Oboi Amuriat was born in the eastern region of Uganda in the district called Soroti district.
His father is called John Amuriat and he hails from Kumi district. His mother is called Elizabeth Aciro and she is from Omoro district.
After completing his primary school education, Patrick Oboi Amuriat joined Soroti Senior Secondary school where he obtained his Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) qualifications which is commonly known as Ordinary level of education.
After completing his ordinary level of education, in the year 1985 Patrick Oboi Amuriat went to Lango College School which is found in Layibi where he attained his Advanced level of education.
In 1987, Patrick Amuriat Oboi joined Makerere University where he was able to obtain a diploma in Education.
After completing his Education studies, Patrick Oboi Amuriat started teaching and he taught for about two years before enrolling for Bachelors degree in Construction Engineering at Makerere University.
After completing his degree in Engineering, Patrick Amuriat Oboi started working with an organisation called Care International as a technical advisor.
He later joined public service and started working as the District Engineer for Kumi district, a position that he held for about a year before joining the world of politics.
In 2001, Patrick Oboi Amuriat contested for the seat of Member of Parliament for Kumi district and he managed to win the elections and later became the Member of parliament for Kumi district.
After joining the parliament of Uganda, Patrick Amuriat Oboi became part of the Parliamentary Advocacy Forum which is commonly known as PAFO. PAFO was chaired at the time by one of the most respected elders at the time called Hon. Augustine Ruzindana.
During that time, historic events happened and the most popular political party in Uganda called Forum for Democratic Change( FDC) was created and Patrick Amuriat Oboi became part of the party.
Patrick Amuriat Oboi also one time became the chairman of the Commissions Statutory Authority and State Enterprises which is commonly known as COSASE.
During his tenure as the chairman of COSASE, Patrick Amuriat Oboi decided to engage some of the researchers at Makerere University so that they can do some studies on the performance of statutory bodies.
In 2014, in the month of May they released their report and the study found out that the appointment of politicians on the different management boards was responsible for the erosion of the technical abilities of corporations.
The report also discovered that since most of the political appointees do not have any gainful employment then they always make endless demands for facilitation.
Having sacrificed himself for the post of presidency of FDC party, Patrick Amuriat has been on the wanted list of Ugandan police and he has been involved in several confrotations with the police as he continues to mobilise for his party.
Patrick Amuriat Oboi has emerged as one of the top political actors in the country who is becoming a strong political force to reckon with.
He is an inspiration to all the youths out there especially those who are planning to join the world of politics and also seek for leadership in various positions in the Ugandan government.
