BIOGRAPHY: INSPIRING STORY OF KENYAN SINGER WILLY PAUL


 Wilson  Shikwekwe  Abubakar Radido  who is commonly known as Willy Paul is a Kenyan music artist, singer, dancer, model and songwriter who is popularly known for his contemporary Christian songs that are famously called gospel music.

 His local gospel songs are composed and sang in the Kiswahili language. Willy Paul was born in a place called Mathare which is a suburb of Nairobi the capital city of the East African country called Kenya on the 1st of September in the year 1993.As of the year 2018, Willy Paul is 24 years of age.

Willy Paul's mother is called Salome and is a hairdresser by profession while his father who was called Paul Opondo Radido was a carpenter by profession. 

While growing up in the Mathare area, Willy Paul always witnessed his father struggle to earn a living so that he could be able to take care of his family.

During an interview that he did with Citizen television, Willy Paul revealed that there were times when they were forced to go hungry for days and they had to eat food only twice in a week.

 In the year 2010, Willy Paul lost his father and his mother then became the sole breadwinner of the family.

After the death of his father, Willy Paul's family went through alot of suffering and struggles as they had to look for money so that they could be able to meet their daily needs.

 His father's death was a very big blow to the family in that they could not even raise enough money to buy a coffin so that he could be able to get a befitting burial, they had to settle for an old coffin that had holes.

 Willy Paul attended  Brain house school which is found in the Mathare area in Nairobi for his highschool education but unfortunately as a result of poverty, he was forced to drop out of school in form three  and he failed to complete his secondary school education.

 In 2013, Willy Paul decided to register for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams commonly known as KSCE and with the help of the tutors he was able to sit for the exams and managed to pass the exams. 

After the release of the exams,  Willy Paul revealed that he would like to study abroad  but as of now he is yet to reveal whether he truly enrolled for the course that he desired or if he actually was able to complete  his studies that he allegedly enrolled for.

 One hot afternoon, Willy Paul was walking from Mathare area towards the Umoja area on foot and during that time  he had about twenty shillings in his pocket that he later used to buy a maize cob.

On the same day, Willy Paul was now to perform at a hotel near by and during his turn, he performed another artist that he loved's song and his performance was loved by the crowd and that was the time when he was identified by one of Kenya's top music artists who offered him the chance to be able to record some songs for free in his studio and gave Willy Paul the breakthrough that he deserved to become the great music artist that he is.

 Willy Paul has also now decided to give back to society by opening a charity organisation that he called You Never Know that is responsible for paying school fees for the needy children around the Mathare area. 

Willy Paul has acheived what most people have been dreaming of achieving just at a tender age of about 25 years.

 Willy Paul is truly an inspiration to all the Kenyan youths especially the boys and all the youths in Africa who are also planning to join the entertainment industry and do contemporary gospel music. 

He continues to inspire people through his music each and every time they listen to it.
