FRESH KID SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DO MUSIC, NOTHING ELSE

One young child from the outskirts of Luweero district has caused alot of turmoil among the Ugandan population in such away that the matter was even tabled on the floor of the Ugandan parliament.

The debate revolved around whether or not a young child who is just seven years old should be allowed to sing or not?

One Minister who is said to be the Minister for youth and children affairs  who is called hon. Nakiwala Kiyingi claimed that allowing the seven year old child to sing would interfere with his studies and that  he would be exposed to some bad habits that the adults do practice in some places like the bars and clubs.

According to the hon. Nakiwala Kiyingi, the young boy whose real names are Senyonjo Patrick who is popularly known as Fresh Kid should stop doing music and instead concentrate on his studies.

As the Minister was busy giving her views, it should be understood this is a child that comes from a poor family where the mother prepares porridge on the streets in order to earn a living while the father paints people's nails to earn a living.

As a result of the mInister's views, so many people attacked the Minister and said that she should have come out to offer the child some help if she wanted him to go back to school and stop doing music.

The Minister even invited the child and his parents into his office just to take a look at the matter in details.

She later discovered that the child was studying and at the same time he was also doing music that was  earning him money to help his parents back at home.

In my opinion, Senyonjo Patrick who is popularly known as Fresh Kid should be allowed to do music while also studying simply because education is important but again we cannot just stop him from doing his music because we do not know what the future holds for his child.

He might dedicate all his time to education and after graduating from University, he ends up on the streets with no job and in regrets.

With the high unemployment levels in Uganda, we cannot just tell our children that go to school, study hard and get a well paying job.

That kind of thinking is now in the past. In the modern age, talent does pay and pays well.  Just imagine how much money some of these music artists are earning when they organise their concerts.

Most of them are actually living off their music and a very comfortable life than very many people out there who did go to school and have degrees and diplomas. He can still go to school and pursue music at the same time.

We are talking about a child whose future is uncertain and we do not know whether he will be able to get a job or not.

Education for this child is good simply because he will be able to learn to communicate in English, learn other skills like arithmetic which are vital for survival in the world.

In my own point of view, the child should do both and not just one.
