Most times when we do want something out of life, we will most likely try to focus our efforts on the outcome of what we are going to do and forget about the process that we are going to undertake or the process that we do need to undertake before we can reach that ultimate goal or dream that we have set for ourselves.
In the world that we live in today, we are so much obsessed with results and outcomes as if it is all that matters in the world.
In business, most entrepreneurs are looking at how many sales they have made and how much profit they were able to make in the last quarter.
But if you do put your focus only on the outcomes then you will miss out on the chance of getting more of what you want.
Here are the three phases that you will grow through before you can be able to discover the fact that you should not actually be focusing on the outcomes but on the process.
1. Hustling and working hard
In beginning you will not need any motivation to help in pushing you towards an outcome that you do want in your life.
At this stage, the momentum will just happen simply because of the excitement that is coupled with having the new idea will do all this without you putting in any work.
When you first begin blogging the first few articles are just fantastic and you can punch them very fast.
This is simply because at this point in time, you do not have any audiences, or critics who will ultimately attack you for posting something that looks insulting to them.
At this time, you have no expectations whatsoever.
You can even write for close to eight hours without feeling any fatigue of sort. At this time, you will be thinking that the whole world should be working very hard simply because you also are working hard.
Working hard is not the only recipe for achieving success in life and things have dramatically changed.
2. Getting your first success
When you venture into something like blogging, you will be having certain expectations and if you hit your first success, it will likely take you to a dream world that you have always imagined in your mind when you first thought about the idea initially.
When you get your first success in blogging, you will start thinking like as if you will soon become another Tim Ferris or Pete Cashmore.
You should be aware that you encounter several mini-successes along the way and you will also be able to face a lot of nothingness in between all this.
3. Hitting the plateau
If you have ever tried the game of only focusing on the outcomes of the things that you do set out to achieve, you should be aware that there comes a time where by you will reach the peak of things and this is called the plateau where everything gets stunted and nothing seems to progress for some period of time.
After you have put in a lot of time in producing as much content as you can, there will be a time where you will hit a speed bump and at this point there will be a time of no activity and you will start thinking seriously whether blogging is truly something that you desire to do in the long run.
If you are to succeed, you just have to keep going. For some period of time you will not experience any change or progress for a while but slowly things will begin to change.
You will feel like giving during this period of nothingness but things will start changing for the better.
4. Realisation that you do have an audience
If you keep going, one day you will be able to see your first comment appearing in the comment section.
This simply means that there are people out there who are following what you are doing and reading your blog posts.
Realizing that you are actually adding value to other people out there will give you the motivation to keep going.
This will enable you to stop focusing on the outcomes and instead you will start focusing on the process of creating your content.
You will learn that focusing on the process is more important than just looking at the outcomes.
You will realize that putting your focus on the outcomes will give you the chance to inspire someone out there with your work and that is priceless.
