Esther Akoth who is commonly known as Akothee is a Kenyan female music artist and businesswoman popularly known for her luxurious lifestyle that she freely shares on her social media platforms.
Esther Akoth was born in a place called Migori County in Kisumu which is found on the shores of Lake Victoria in Kenya. Her father was a county administrator while her mother was a politician.
She is the first daughter of her parents. Akothee started school and even completed her primary school education but unfortunately when she reached the age of 14 she got married.
This was after she decided to rebel against the advice of her parents and later eloped with a guy with whom she had fallen in love with.
This boy was studying in one of the schools that were neighbouring Akothee’s own school. According to Akothee, this boy used to write some sweet letters that always drove her crazy.
This teenage love affair became very serious and Akothee made up her mind to run away with her boyfriend. Her parents tried to convince her to come back home but she adamantly refused to return home.
The marriage did not work out and so she had to resume school again at the age of 24 and was able to complete her secondary school education in 2004. By this time Akothee was now a mother of three children. Despite all her struggles, she managed to complete her secondary school education with a grade C.
After running away from her parent’s home, Akothee decided to take refuge and stay with her mother in law in Migori County.
While staying with her mother in law, Akothee did all the house chores at that tender age that she had. While she was busy cleaning and taking very good care of the home, her husband was at school learning and getting a very good education.
Her husband completed secondary school and even joined University while Akothee was still living at her mother in law’s place.
Akothee spent about seven years working as a house girl at her mother in law’s place in Migori County just in the name of love. While staying at her mother in law’s house, Akothee became pregnant and gave birth to her first daughter.
After some time in the year 2000, they got some disagreements in their relationship and Akothee was kicked out of her mother in law’s house and was forced to leave. After leaving her mother in law’s home, Akothee decided to go and live in Kanga.
It was here in Kanga that she started an Omena business so that she could be able to earn some money to pay her school fees and also make some money for her own living expenses. In 2003, Akothee’s boyfriend was able to complete his course at University.
The couple decided to reconcile and start taking care of their children while Akothee made a decision to go back to school.
According to Akothee, she would drop the children at the kindergarten in the morning before she could proceed to school.
In the evening after her classes, she would go pick up the children from the teacher’s house and then drop them home before going on to sell omena for at least one hour. When things became tough, Akothee always developed a thick skin and then became as flexible as a cat.
After separating with her husband, armed with the little savings that she had made from the sales of Omena, Akothee decided to join the driving school and the skills that she acquired from there made her to become a matatu driver.
After completing her driving course, Akothee joined her brother who was a taxi driver in Mombasa.
While living in Mombasa, she decided to partner with her brother and they drove the taxi in turns and Akothee was able to save some little money for her upkeep and that of her young family. One time while she driving the taxi, she met with a diplomat who was shocked to find a young beautiful woman working in a taxi as a driver.
This man later fell in love with Akothee and their relationship grew. The man later relocated with Akothee to his home country called Switzerland in the city of Zurich. Akothee later became pregnant with this man’s child and she gave birth to his child.
She later discovered that this man was not interested in any commitment or marriage and all that he wanted was to just have a baby with her.
She decided to end the relationship and flew back to her home country Kenya. After arriving in Kenya, Akothee embarked on a music career. Akothee kick started her music career in style and the money soon started flowing in her direction.
She decided to invest the money that she was earning from music into other businesses that she was passionate about like Real estate and she now has very many properties in Kenya.
Her real estate company is called Akothee Property and she also invested in tourism industry and transportation by expanding her taxi business into a company that she called Akothee Safaris.
When Akothee started her music career, she used to perform at high end private parties where she would be paid lots of money especially in millions of shillings.
That helped her acquire enough capital to invest in her real estate business and also her transportation business. Akothee’s transportation business is growing very fast and she so far has about 15 vehicles of which there are two 27-seater buses.
She also acquired 5 tour land cruiser vans. Akothee Safaris is now a growing Tour and Travels company. She also added Morning Star Diani which does provide a 5 star service to its customers at a 3 star price.
Akothee lives a fabulous and luxurious lifestyle whereby she will go on shopping trips to Europe, she does drive flashy cars and according to some reliable sources, she is now planning to buy a private jet.
Some of the songs that have been done by Kenyan singer Akothee are Lotto, Djele djele, Shengerera mama, Nimechoka, Give it to me featuring Mr. Flavour, Sweet Love featuring Diamond Platinumz, Benefactor and very many other songs.
Akothee has said that she has had enough of men and that it will take her sometime to fall in love again since she now does not trust any man out there.
She also said that having children is just like a hobby to her and that she would like to have as many kids as she can. She said that she loves the feeling of being pregnant.
Akothee has said that the person that she looked up to when she gained interest in music is called Yondo Sister whose music she loved very much and she also loved the way these people danced while they performed their songs.
Akothee lives a luxurious and fabulous life that most Kenyan youths especially girls look up to and therefore she continues to inspire and empower youths in Kenya and all over Africa through her music and business.
She is a true inspiration for all those who would like to get ahead in life, a true testimony that it is possible to achieve your dreams and live it.
