WHAT IS NAIRALAND?

Nairaland.com is a Nigerian website which is a forum where different topics are discussed by its users. The topics range from politics, relationships, technology, health, foods and many more.  

Nairaland.com was founded by Seun Osewa in 2005 after noticing that his forum that was called MobileNigeria.com was gaining a lot of traffic and yet it was only having telecommunications topics. 

He then realised that if he expanded the range of topics that were discussed on the forum, he would be able to get a lot of traffic which he would easily monetise. 

Today Nairaland has become one of the biggest websites in Nigeria and also Africa. 

This has helped Seun Osewa earn lots of money from adverts though Google banned adverts of adsense from showing on his forum since the site has a lot of sexual content on it. 

Though he makes lots of money off his website, Seun Osewa has remained anonymous and he is rarely seen at events or even seen on social media.  

He is said to be living in his home town which is found in Ogun State in Nigeria.

 Seun Osewa in 2015 got an offer to buy his website for $1 million dollars but he refused to sell his website claiming that the amount that was offered was less than the value of the website which is about $1,600,000 dollars. 

In 2015, Forbes Magazine wrote an article saying that Nairaland.com was the most visited website in Africa. Nairaland.com is getting over a million page views per day and has over 500,000 members who do use it. 

According to Wikipedia, Seun Osewa has changed his religion from being a Christian to becoming an Atheist in the recent years.

 Seun Osewa is yet to get married and therefore he is still single and he hopes he will get married some day.
