BIOGRAPHY- INSPIRING STORY OF RONALD MAYINJA

Ronald Mayinja is a Ugandan singer, songwriter and music artist who has been singing since the 1990s. 

He is a very talented singer who has been compared to the late Elly wamala and although the singer said that he is not related to the fallen Ugandan music icon but rather they only share the same place of origin which is called Mpeja that is found in Gomba and this place is found in Masaka district in the central part of Uganda. 

When Ronald Mayinja came into the limelight, some people were claiming that he stole the late Elly Wamala’s songs though that was a lie. 

Ronald Mayinja was born at a place called Mpeja in Gomba which is found in Masaka district in the central part of Uganda. 

His parents are called Joyce Namuddu who is his mother and his father was called the late David Ndawula. 

When he was still young, Ronald Mayinja dreamt of joining the army so that he would be able to take his revenge against his step mother who was always fond of beating him up every day. 

But after seeing the hard training and the terrible strokes of Cain that the trainees were receiving, he decided to change his mind and drop the dream of joining the army. 

Ronald Mayinja studied at St. Peters secondary school Nsambya and that is where he completed his secondary school education. 

 After completing his secondary school, Ronald Mayinja went to high institution of learning which is found in Nakawa called Makerere University Business School where he obtained a diploma.

 After getting his diploma, he decided to concentrate his efforts on music which he described as his calling.

 Ronald Mayinja said that he relocated to Kampala to live with his mother just after completing his primary school education in Gomba in Masaka district. 

While staying with his mother in Kampala, he only came into contact with music when participated in the choir that sang in the church that he prayed from.

 Though he had gained some interest in music, his mother did not support the idea of him taking up music as a career and all she wanted him to do was to just graduate from University and may be get a white-collar job. 

In 1995, Ronald Mayinja said that his mother left the country and travelled to Europe and he was left with his father who later passed on hence leaving him to fend for himself. 

According to Ronald Mayinja, he was forced to join the music industry due to the struggles that he went through after the death of his father. 

He said that he used to write songs for the plays that they used to stage at school during his secondary school days and therefore he decided to record the songs that he had written for those plays on a tape like the other upcoming artists who were also doing the same thing. 

He talked to a good Samaritan who helped him to record the songs by sponsoring him and that was how his first album that he called Sinzoba came into place. 

The album was then promoted by Mulindwa Muwonge who was at the time working with CBS radio which is one of the first radio stations in Uganda. 

After his album became very popular on radio, he got someone who bought his album very quickly and this person was working at Lusyn Enterprises located in Kampala at the time. 

According to Ronald Mayinja there is no reason why his ability to write very good songs must be questioned since he always carries out a lot research on the music projects that he is planning to work on. 

He said that his ideas for writing his songs come from the way people think and the environment that they do live in. 

He also said that he sometimes gets ideas for writing songs from the News papers like Bukedde and New vision whose news stories can spark the musical genius within him and push him to write something. 

His musical genius and song writing skills have established him as one of the biggest music artists in Uganda.

 Ronald Mayinja has said that he has been able to drive the cars that he has always dreamt of owning during  his days in Gomba and that music has enabled him to be able to build a bungalow and own businesses and also make some friends. 

According to Ronald Mayinja, his story is just beginning and that he also has plans to venture into active politics. 

After his first album, Ronald Mayinja was able to release  many other albums and some of these albums are  Akamanyiiro which was released in 1997,  Claire which was released in 1998, Necklace was released in 1999, Njakulondola came out in 2002, and in 2004, he came up with another album  that he called Doreen. 

These albums brought him more musical fame and he became a superstar in Uganda. 

He is a very inspiring individual whom very many youths look up to and also admire.   He continues to inspire and motivate very many Ugandans with his sweet musical voice.
