Tobby Innocent Kafeero who is popularly known as Dr. T. Amale is a
Ugandan comedian, journalist and television presenter who rose to fame for his
ability to imitate the controversial political scientist who is called Tamale
Mirundi who is known for analysing politics and social issues that are
happening around the country.
Tobby Kafeero was born in Masaka district in the
central part of Uganda. He studied his primary school education in Masaka
district.
After completing his primary school education in Masaka district, he
joined technical school where he was studying bricklaying and building at
certificate level.
According to Tobby
Kafeero he was not passionate about building and civil engineering and so after
completing the course, he decided to join the career that he was very
passionate about and that is Journalism by enrolling for a diploma in
Journalism at UMCAT which is the school of journalism and media studies found
in Kampala.
During his second year while
pursuing his diploma course, he got a job at radio Simba after he was able to
pass through the auditions that were organised.
One day, he visited his friend
who worked at NTV and after seeing his friend, he was requested to perform a
short skit that would be filmed.
He decided at that moment to imitate Tamale
Mirundi as his character and the video was uploaded online and it went viral.
From that time, he began getting gigs and was invited to perform at various
shows.
He started performing with one of Uganda’s comedians who is called Senga
Sebaga who is always imitating the way aunties do behave in Uganda.
Due to his talent at imitating Tamale
Mirundi, he was able to land another job with one of Uganda’s television stations
which is called BBS television where he was a program that he does host and it
has made him very popular among the lovers of comedy in Uganda especially those
who love comedy that is done in the local language called Luganda.
One time
while working on radio, he told that comedy has very good rewards for those who
do it passionately and so he decided to start doing comedy passionately and
professionally.
Tobby Kafeero recently completed his degree in Mass
communication from Ndejje University where he graduated and he has been
advising people who rely on their talent to continue with school and at least
have some qualifications.
He said that
he does have plans to also go back to school and obtain his Masters degree.
Tobby Kafeero continues to make Ugandans laugh and make them happy.
Tamale Mirundi has been against what he is
doing and he said that Tamale Mirundi once showed up at his work place at radio
Simba and was looking for him and the man who produced his shows but he was not
around then.
According to Tobby Kafeero
he respects Tamale Mirundi and says that Tamale Mirundi is a very intelligent
man whom he appreciates and that he is also a fan of his.
He is not yet married
and he claims that he is still working on his goals. He continues to inspire
very many upcoming comedians in Uganda.
