There was panic early in the morning at Makerere University when fire
broke out at one of the halls of residence of Uganda’s oldest university called
Makerere University.
The fire broke out at a hall called Mary Stuart hall where
the girls at the university reside. According to some of the students on campus
the fire started from one of the
canteens located near the University and spread into the ground floor of the
hall.
The fire fighters who were called came in and managed to prevent the fire
from proceeding upwards to other rooms and they managed to put out the fire. There
were no deaths that were recorded and only one student sustained some minor
injuries.
