MEDICS USE TORCHES AND CANDLES TO TREAT PATIENTS AFTER POWER BLACKOUT



According to reliable sources in Tororo district, medical personell in the district are using torches and candles to help treat patients in the district hospital after the leading power supplier in the country, UMEME disconnected the powersupply to the main hospital, Tororo hospital.

  The medical doctors and nurses in the hospital have now resorted to using torches and candles to help treat patients and also help women who are giving birth.

 According to the hospital administrator, Mr. Walter Oryekum, the hospital has accumulated unpaid bills of around 76million shillings which left the electricity company with no other option but to disconnect the power supply. 

According to the administrator operations at the hospital has been paralysed after it became difficult to offer services at night, especially emergencies. 

Handling emergencies especially caesarean has become very difficult. Tororo hospital has now been left in darkness for the last two weeks. 

According to reports, Tororo district has failed to clear the outstanding debts of electricity since 2013.
