BIOGRAPHY OF TANGA ODOI



Tanga Odoi is a Ugandan academician and politician who has been lecturing at Makerere University before being appointed as Chairman of the National Resistance Movement’s (NRM) Electoral Commission by his Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Tanga Odoi was born in the Eastern part of Uganda in a district called Tororo district.

 Tanga Odoi was born in a polygamous family and according to him he has 26 siblings.

 His father was born in the year 1920 and died recently in 2017 as a result of having a weak heart though there were allegations that he died of witchcraft and these allegations were actually rubbished by Tanga Odoi.

AUDIO! All candidates including Museveni rigged –Tanga ... His father had married four wives and Tanga Odoi says that he grew up with all these women in the same roof. After completing his primary and secondary school education in Tororo district, Tanga Odoi proceeded to Makerere University where he studied History and graduated in the year 1988. 
After graduation Tanga Odoi started teaching at the University in the Department of History in Makerere University in the year 1993. Tanga Odoi also taught history in various schools around Uganda. 

The schools where he taught history are Kibuli secondary school, Gombe secondary school, Kawempe Muslim Secondary school and Nabisunsa Girls School this list also includes his former school in Tororo district. 

While at Makerere University, Tanga Odoi became the leader of the academic staff Association which is called Makerere University Academic Staff Association (MUASA). 

Tanga Odoi has been actively involved in leading strikes as a result of poor pay and poor administration at the University. 

When he was appointed as the Nation Resistance Movement Electorl Commission chairman, he was very strict on academic qualifications and vowed to bring in experts to crosscheck academic documents. 

Tanga Odoi is currently the chairman  of NRM Electoral commission and recently they had issues with Kasule Lumumba over the recruitment of unqualified staff for the party.
