Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has grilled the power
distribution company UMEME officials in state house over the high charges that
they levy onto the consumers of power in Uganda.
The meeting between President
Museveni and the UMEME officials took place in State House Entebbe. During the
meeting, the president urged UMEME officials to find cheaper and more efficient
ways of providing power to it’s customers.
This comes after the president threatened Irene Muloni not to renew the
lincense of the South Africa based company.
The president further urged the IGG
head Irene Mulyagonja to investigate the UMEME officials and Ministry of Energy
officials over the high energy costs being levied by the company.
