The
Information and communications technology director at Police Assistant
Inspector General of Police Ngabirano Amos is reported to have resigned from
his position and left the country after it emerged that President Yoweri Kaguta
Museveni was planning to disband the Police unit responsible for the
installation of the CCTV cameras in the country.
This unit is under the Police
Procurement committee.
According to sources within the Police, the resignation
of Mr. Ngabirano is an action that he took knowing that in a few months
Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura will be ordered by President Museveni
to show him the door. The Police
director is alleged to have fled to London.
