WHO IS UCHEPEDRO?
Uche Pedro
is a Nigerian entrepreneur and blogger. She is the founder of the popular
Nigerian blog called BellaNaija.com.
Uche Pedro started blogging in 2006 after completing her studies and
decided to start blogging when she got bored during the two weeks holiday that
she had.
After blogging for about a year
she started getting over a million page views per month. She completed her degree in Nigeria and then
travelled to Canada where she got a job working with Shell and Total.
During
the holidays, she would travel back to Nigeria to check on her family and
friends. One time when she came back, she found a cultural shock in Nigeria
where people were beginning to take fashion seriously and the entertainment
industry was starting to boom like never before.
When her blog became popular
she decided to quit her job in Canada and move to Nigeria where she decided to
concentrate her efforts on her blogging business which instantly took off and
then she started getting advertisers.
She started her blog on the free blogger
platform running on the sub domain.
But when her blogging business took off,
she decided to recruit writers and register a parent company called Bainstone
Limited which owns BellaNaija.com brand, Human resource wing and Marketing
wing.
Uche Pedro has inspired many bloggers in Nigeria and one of the most
popular bloggers in Nigeria called LindaIkeji who runs the Lindaikejisblog.com
was inspired by this amazing woman to start her own blog.
She is a true inspiration for not only
Nigerians but all those women in Africa who are planning to build their own
businesses.
