WHO IS MILDRED TUHAISE?

BIOGRAPHY AND INSPIRING LIFE OF MILDRED TUHAISE

Mildred Tuhaise is a Ugandan journalist and farmer, choreographer who was born in Masindi district.  She has three siblings who are all girls. 

She currently works with NBS television which is one of the best television stations in Uganda that is owned by its parent company called Next Media that owns the Nilepost news website, Sanyuka TV among others.

 She had her primary school education in Saba primary school which is located in Masindi district and from there she went to Kawempe Mbogo secondary school for her Ordinary level studies before spending sometime in Kisubi High school and completing her Advanced level certificate of Education at St. Peter’s secondary school Naalya.

 After completing her secondary school education, Mildred Tuhaise joined Makerere University where she pursued a Bachelors degree in Information Technology and graduated in the year 2013.

 She started her career as a teenager when she was asked to voice an advert on one of the television stations in Uganda called Top Television. 

She did the job very well and was invited as a guest on the Teen’s show for the television where she started presenting the show until she outgrew her teenage years.

 One time while she was still working at Top television, the news anchor was on labour and others had quit the television station and therefore, she was told to step in at anchor the news. 

Her voice was tested and she did the anchoring and it was liked and that’s how she started anchoring news. 

After leaving Top television, she was hired by WBS television which was one of the television stations in Uganda at that time owned by the Wava Group of companies but has since been sold off.  

After leaving WBS television she joined the most popular television station in Uganda called NBS television where she instantly became a news anchor and also a morning show host that she usually hosts with Simon Kaggwanjala where they discuss politics and current affairs with other guests that they invite into the show called the Morning Breeze. 

According to Mildred Tuhaise, she lived her childhood life near a hospital simply because her mother was a nurse. 

She is so passionate about politics and very articulate and asks questions that leaves her guests amazed and pondering on what the reply should be.  She says that she used to do choreography when she was not busy. 

She said they had dance group that used to perform and therefore she is good at dancing.  

She is also passionate about agriculture and owns one and a half acres of land where she plats tree seedlings, fruits among others. 

Her story shows that it is possible to become successful in any field if you are passionate about it.
