WHO IS EDDY KENZO?
Edirisa Musuuza Kenzo who is popularly known by his stage
name as EddyKenzo is a Ugandan music artist and singer.
Eddy Kenzo was born in
Masaka in the central Uganda. He lost
his mother at the age of 5, after which he lived his life on the streets for
about 13 years.
After high school, he adopted the stage name Eddy Kenzo and
then this was when he began writing songs.
In year 2008 he was featured in the
song called Yanimba that was done alongside Mikiewine, who is a brother to
Bobiwine, one of the most popular music artists in Uganda.
In the year 2010, he
managed to get a break through hit song called Stamina that was adopted by the
National Resistance Movement (NRM) and used as a theme song for their campaigns
in the year 2011.
That song made Eddy
Kenzo popular and it officially introduced him to the Ugandan audience in the
music scene. He released his first album called Ogenda Kuzisa in the year 2012.
One year later he released another album and was able to tour the United States
of America.
In the year 2014, Eddy Kenzo released a song called Sityaloss which
became very popular. The video of the song which had kids dancing to the song
went viral and became the most watched video of his songs to date.
This one song took Eddy Kenzo’s career to new
heights as he was able to make history and become the first Ugandan music
artist to ever win a Black Entertainment Television (BET) award.
He was also able to land collabos with very
many music artists around the world including the likes of French Montana and
Micasa among others.
In the year 2017, EddyKenzo was appointed as a tourism
ambassador for Kenya by the Kenyan government and this angered some music
artists within Kenya.
Eddy Kenzo’s story is really a rags to riches story that
will continue to inspire many around Uganda and Africa as a whole.
