WHO IS IRENE NTALE?
Irene Ntale is a Ugandan female singer, songwriter and
guitarist. She was born on 30th
January 1989 to George William Ntale and her mother is called Jane.
She studied
at Kitante Primary School where she obtained her Primary Leaving Examination
Certificate and proceeded to Kitante high School where she studied for her
O’levels before joining Migadde College where she obtained her Advanced Level
Certificate.
After completing her
secondary school education she joined Kyambogo University where she studied
Procurement and Logistics at degree level.
She started her music career at church as a singer in the church
choir.
The church where she started her
career is called Victory City Church and it is located in Ntinda.
She learnt
how to play the guitar at church. After her time in the church choir, Irene Ntale
and a few friends formed a band where they used to play at different pubs and
bars around Kampala.
After playing at a few gigs here and there, the band
members split and they believed it was the time for each of them to move on.
After leaving the band, she decided to take on a solo career.
While she was embarking on her solo career,
one of Uganda’s top music personalities called Bebecool saw how talented Irene Ntale was and decided
recruit her to become his backup singer.
The pair was able to do a collabo called ‘Love letter’ which instantly
became a hit and this song opened doors for Irene Ntale to be known all over
the country.
During this period, the founder of Swangz Avenue one of the top
record labels in Uganda called Benon Mugumya signed up the singer and shortly
after she released her first single with the label called ‘Gyobera’ which instantly became a hit and it
introduced her to the Ugandan audience as a newly born superstar.
She has
released many songs like Stamina Daddy, Sembera, among others.
In January 2017,
she announced that she was leaving Swangz Avenue and it is believed that she
left Swangz Avenue due to monetary issues though she did not come out and
declare the reason.
She fired her then manager called Vinka and decided to
employ her sister as her manager.
She has continued to release hit songs and
inspire more Ugandan youths. She is truly a music icon in this country and may
be even Africa.
