THE INSPIRING STORY OF
WINNIE NWAGI
Winnie Nwagi is a Ugandan female music artist, Singer,
Vocalist.
She had her primary school education and proceeded up to the Advanced
level of education where she could not continue any further due to lack of
tuition.
She started her music career by participating a singing competition
called the NTV hot steps that was organised NTV a television station owned by
the Nation Media group of company.
The judges on that singing competition
included Benon Mugumya, Jackie Candiru and others.
When Benon Mugumya noticed
the talent and good vocal skills that were displayed by Winnie Nwagi, he
decided to give her a chance to record songs at his Swangz Avenue studio.
Swangz Avenue gave Winnie Nwagi a chance to take her talent to the next level,
She became popular with her song Musawo that wooed Ugandans towards her.
Her
style of dancing excited Ugandans especially the male fans who instantly liked
her music.
She became an instant hit with that song and everyone wanted a piece
of Winnie Nwagi. She has continued to produce hit songs for Ugandans and her
audience outside Uganda.
The coming of
Winnie Nwagi in Swangz Avenue was looked at as a replacement for Irene Ntale
who also had been taken on by the same recording studio.
The battle between the
two ladies for attention in Swangz Avenue is said to have led to the exit of
Irene Ntale from this popular recording studio.
Right now, Irene Ntale has
gotten her own management and Swangz Avenue has finally managed to replace her
with a new girl called Vinka.
Due to her popularity as a result of her songs,
she has managed to attract the attention of popular brands like Pepsi that have paid her some good sums of cash as
they try to promote their products to the public.
She continues to rule the
Ugandan airwaves and Television screens with her hit songs like Musawo, magic
