Are you a friend to belts or not? Some women out there are suffering from belt phobia. Since belts sit on their waists, they fear to draw attention towards their waistlines.
Belts could add a spark to your outfit and also define the outfit as it is needed. Wearing a belt in an effective way is actually a combination of style, colour and also the position of the belt.
Here are a few tips that can help you to choose and wear the right belts in the right positions.
1. Discover the sweet spot within you
While wearing a belt, position is very important. In many cases, your sweet spot will be a little higher than your natural waist and in other times, it could be a little lower.
If you have a regular bust size and you are carrying a little extra around the midriff then you will need to position the belt just above the waistline and that will be your sweet spot.
When you have a short waist and well endowed, you will need to position your belt lower than the waistline infront and also at the waist level in the back.
If you are long waisted, then wearing a belt high on the natural waist will be the most effective solution.
2. Select the width
After you have successfully been able to find your sweet spot, then think about the width of the belt. Wearing a belt above your midriff will do the trick.
Also positioning it onto the extra bits will also do the girdling trick. Long waisted girls and women can also wear extra wide belts while short waisted girls will look better when they wear narrower or skinny belts.
3. Add another layer
If you can layer a jacket or a cardigan over a top with a high or lower contrast belt then that will be an effective way of wearing a belt and you will not be worried about it's effects around the midriff.
When you wear it this way, the belt will add an extra textural dimension to your outfit that is interesting.
4. Choose belts that are elastic
If you can, choose belts that are partly elastic because they will make you comfortable. They will be able to stretch with your body during the day.
Belts are an amazing accessory to pair with clothes, if you have any more tips about belts, share with us.
