Rita Kalonga is a Malawian music artist, singer and songwriter who is popularly known as Ritaa.
Rita Kalonga was born on the 16th of August in the year 1995 in the capital city of Malawi which is called Blantyre. Ritaa released her first song which is called Chapatali back in the year 2016.
One of the top music artists in Malawi was featured in this song who is called Dan Lu. The song later topped the local charts becoming number one on the list.
Ritaa has been able to work with some talented music producers like BFB and Blasto and was also able to share a stage with Tay Grin.
Ritaa was once the headlining artist for the Carlsberg Malawi urban music bash. Ritaa has revealed that she has been inspired by top international music artists like Rihana, the late Whitney Houston, Beyonce Knowles.
Ritaa has been able to fuse afro-pop, dancehall and also some hiphop in her music altogether creating a unique musical sound.
Her song Chapatali became the first song by a female music artist to be able to top the Malawi music top 100 and other music charts in the country.
In the year 2016, she made history by becoming the first female music artist in Malawi to have three top hit songs on the music charts.
Ritaa is a feminist who is fighting for women through her activism. She has been fighting for the rights of women especially the way they dress and many other issues concerning the women out there.
Many have accused her of promoting pornography through her dresscode in a provocative way and also her music lyrics.
Ritaa is an inspiration to all the youths out there most especially the girls who would love to join the entertainment industry but mostly do music.
