BIOGRAPHY OF DOROTHEE MUNYANEZA, THE RWANDAN MUSIC ARTIST


Dorothee Munyaneza is a Rwandan female music artist, singer, actress, choreographer and songwriter who has become very popular musically over the years.

Dorothee Munyaneza was born in the capital city of Rwanda called Kigali back in the year 1982. Her father has been working a pastor in church and her mother has been working as a journalist.

When she was just 12 years of age, Munyaneza and her family left their home country Rwanda as a result of the Rwandan genocide that took place in the year 1994.

Since her mother was working for a Non-governmental Organisation at the time, she was able to secure a safe way of travelling to London.

 While living in London, Munyaneza studied Lycee Francais Charles de Gualle. During her studies, she was able to meet Christian Sigwart who is the founder of the Jonas Foundation which is actually a charity organisation whose aim is to help in integrating children who are immigrants into the society of the British.

Munyaneza later got interested in music and was able to study music at the foundation. She later joined the Cantebury Christ Church University where she studied music and also social sciences.

 She currently now resides in Marseille which is found in France.

After completing her studies at University, she kicked off a career in music and chose to work on the Rwandan genocide topic after she was able to watch the documentaries that were done by Thiery Michel and also Denis Mukwege.

 Munanyeza was the music artist who worked on the soundtrack that was used in the genocide focused movie called Hotel Rwanda.

She started by doing songs for the cause and alter introduced new dance styles for the cause that she was recognized for. In the year 2010, Munyaneza was able to release her first solo album that was produced by a music producer called Martin Russell.

In the year 2012, she decided to collaborate with James Seymour Brett who is a British composer and was able to help produce the album called Earth songs.

 In terms of her works on Rwandan genocide, she has produced works like Unwanted and Samedi Datente.

Munyaneza is an inspiration to all the youths out there most especially the ones in her native country Rwanda.
