Wartanoush Garbis Selim is an Egyptian music artist, singer and songwriter who is popularly known as Anoushka who has been able to release popular hit songs in the Arab world.
Anoushka was born in the capital city of Egypt called Cairo on the 9th of March in the year 1960 in a place called Heilopolis.
Her father was from Egypt and her mother was from Armenia. She went to Armenian Gulbenkian School which is found in the neighbourhood called Boulaq in Cairo.
After completing her secondary school education , she enrolled at University where she studied Business Administration. She later successfully graduated from American University of cairo with a Business Administration degree.
After completing her degree she landed a job in a foreign investment company before moving onto a an advertising firm called Tarek Nour where she worked as a singer forthe adverts.
Anoushka later participated in an international singing competition that was organised by International Federation of Festival Organization that she is an original French song and the lyrics were done by Gamal.
Her first public song involved teaching children Arabic language that was actually directed by Fehmi Hamid.
Anoushka later went on to involve herself in festivals in countries like Finland, Turkey, Bulgaria between the year 1987 and also the year 1988.
She also participated in Francophone competitions in France where she used her own composition called Ya Habibi which is in French.
She also later released several other albums in Arabic and she became a pan-Arab sensation.
This was given to her by an Egyptian Minister of Tourism for her efforts that helped in promoting the Egyptian music.
She has also taken part in very many national, Pan- Arab and also the international music events.
Anoushka is an inspiration to all the youths out there most especially the girls who would like to join the music industry.
