When i was still in Kindergarten school, i used to listen to some of our teachers who always said that Education is the key to success and that if one failed to succeed in school then they didnot have a future that was worth talking about.
As i grew up, i later realised that things were not actually the way my teachers in Kindergarten school said and that the type of education we acquire also matters and one critical thing i learnt is that learning doesnot end when you are out of the classroom or lecture room.
The truth is that if you want to succeed in this modern world that we live in, then you should keep learning and acquiring new skills.
We have seen the products of our higher institutions of learning ending up with no jobs, can we therefore simply say that education is the key when many graduates are ending up with no jobs and instead they are being accomodated by their parents who paid their hard earned money to give them a bright future?
It could certainly be true that education is the key but what we should actually dwell most on is what kind of education are we giving our children and will it give them the bright future that we actually would like to give them.
The biggest problem that we do have today is that most schools are teaching kids how to pass exams instea of giving them some critical skills that they can actually put to use when they are out of school.
One main reason why we are seeing very many graduates coming out of Universities especially in Africa who do not know what to do is simply because many of these people just passed through the system so that they could complete it but they didnot take the time to master or acquire some good skills that could help them survive in this world.
Education is thekey, i do agree but i also need to ask what type of education are we giving our kids?
