BIOGRAPHY: INSPIRING STORY OF WAJE, THE NIGERIAN MUSIC ARTIST

Aituaje Iruobe who is popularly known by her stage name as Waje is a Nigerian music artist, singer and songwriter who has emerged as one of the most sought after music artists in the West African country of Nigeria.

 

Waje was born on the 1st of september in the year 1980 in a place called Akure which is found in Ondo State in Nigeria and later on she moved to Benin city.

Waje was the first child and daughter of her parents in the family unfortanately her parents divorced when she was still young. Waje went to Word of  Faith Group of schools where she obtained her primary school education.

 

During her time at the primary school, she joined the choir and as a young singer she one time sang for the late Archibishop Benson Idahosa who belonged to the Church of God mission international and he was very impressed with her talent of singing and he decided to pay her school fees throughout her time in secondary school.

After her secondary school, she joined the University of Nigeria found in Nsukka where she graduated with a Bachelors degree in Social Work and Social Administration.

While at school, Waje was so focused on her musical works most especially school concerts and also fellowships. Waje was able  to listen and learn from some of her idols and mentors like Whitney Houston and also Aretha Franklin so that she could be able to improve her music skills.

 She was able to work with the youths through her organisation that is called  Waje's safe House where she teamed up with other NGOs every quarter of the year to  help in fighting for their causes  and some of the projects that her organisation has worked on are Mental and Environmental Initiative programme for the children which helps in raising funds to help these children go back to school.

Waje is a single mother who has a daughter who is called Emerald Iruobe but the father of her daughter is not known although it is well known that she once dated a Nigerian rapper called Gino.

 Due to her musical success, Waje has been able to win several awards and nominations  and some of these accolades are Best Rhythm and  Blues singer 2011 City People Entertainment awards,  Best Female Vocalist 2011 Nigerian Entertainment Awards, Best Female Vocalist 2011 Hiphop World Awards, Musician of the year 2013 City People Awards and many others. Some of the songs that have been released by Waje are as follows Coco baby, African Child, Left for good, Onye, For A minute, I wish,  One Naira,  Do me, and many  others.

Waje is an inspiration to all the youths especially the girls in Nigeria and all over Africa who would like to build a career in the entertainment industry most especially in the world of music.
