Maureen Koech is a Kenyan music artist, singer, songwriter and also an actress who became popular after appearing in KTN television series called Lies that Bind that was airing on the Kenyan television station.
Maureen Koech was born in the Kenyan capital city of Nairobi on 21st May in the year 1989 and it is also the place where she grew up from. Maureen attended Nakuru High School and it is where she obtained her secondary school education from.
After successfully completing her secondary school education, she joined Strathmore University from the year 2009 up to 2013.
Maureen graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business Information and Technology from the University.
When she completed her studies at the University, Maureen decided to venture into acting and took it on as a career.
During her time at the University, she joined Strathmore Drama School where she was able to participate in the drama activities that were organised at the University.
Maureen kicked off her acting career when she started appearing in the stage performances that were being organised at Alliance Francaise.
In 2010, Maureen made her first appearance in the television series called Changing Times where she acted as Shiks and this television series was focused on the life of students at campus.
During that time she worked with the likes of Ian Mugoya, Nice Githinji,Kevin Ndege, and also the rest of the casting crew that was involved in the production.
In 2011, Maureen went for an audition at the Kenyan National Theatre and there she was cast as one of the main acts of the award winning television series called Lies that Bind.
During this soap opera, she played as a young girl who was acting in bubbly way trying to rediscover herself.
As a result of her excellent performance during the show she was able to win an award for the Best Supporting Actress in Africa in the Africa Magic Viewer's choice Awards in the year 2013. In 2014, Maureen appeared in a short film which was called Sticking Ribbons.
Apart from doing acting, Maureen Koech has also ventured into the music industry. Maureen recorded her first song after completing highschool although she decided to take a break from music so that she could be able to discover herself musically.
The type of music that Maureen does is called Urban pop music and currently she has released a hit song called No letting and she has given herself the stage name Mokko.
Maureen Koech is an inspiration and role model to all the Kenyan youths out there including all the African youths who are planning to join the entertainment industry and build a career in it.
