Josiane Uwineza who is popularly known as Miss Jojo is a Rwandan music artist and songwriter who is known for doing R&B songs and her music is known to be a blend of the traditional Rwandan music styles and also the modern R&B sounds.
Miss Jojo was born in the Rwandan town that is called Bugesera district in the year 1983 and while she was still a child, she loved singing and also dancing and her parents have always encouraged her to continue developing her talent until she coudld be able to perfect it.
Miss Jojo started her music career in the year 2007 after she was declared as the winner of the 2007 Rector Excellence award for the category of the Best Female Artist held at the National University of Rwanda.
During that time Miss Jojo was completing her Bachelors degree in English and the following year, Miss Jojo was able to release her first album that she called Genesis.
In the year 2012, Miss Jojo released her album that she named Genesis and this album was all focused on female empowerment and this is a cause that the singer has been fighting for throughout her career while she is on stage and even when she is off stage.
Miss Jojo has been using the lyrics of her music to inform the youths about the dangers of HIV/Aids epidemic and has also been encouraging the Rwandan people to start participating in the development of their country and also encouraging them to make wise decisions for their future. In the year, 2007 Miss Jojo decided to convert to the Islamic religion and therefore she changed her name from Josiane to Iman.
The news of her religious change attracted the intrest of the media and there were speculations that the singer changed her religion so that she could be able to please her boyfriend at the time who also was her producer.
The singer denied these allegations saying that they were false. Due to her musical success, Miss Jojo has been able to win several awards and some of these are Pearl of Africa Music awards, Best female artist at Salax in 2009,2010, and 2011.
She is an inspiration to all the youths out there in Rwanda who are planning to join the entertainment industry especially the girls.
