Stephanie Onyekachi Okereke who is popularly known as Stephanie Okereke is a Nigerian actress, model and movie director who is popular for her acting roles and as result of her good acting skills she was recognised by the Nigerian government who gifted her with a national honour which is called Member of the Federal Republic commonly abbreviated as MFR.
Stephanie Okereke was born in the Imo State of Nigeria on the 2nd of October 1982 at place called Ngor Okpala. In 2018, Stephanie Okereke was 35 years old.
Stephanie Okereke was born in a family of eight children and of the eight children that her parents had, she was the sixth child to be born into the family.
Stephanie Okereke got her primary school and secondary school education in Delta state. After completing her secondary school education, Stephanie Okereke joined the University of Calabar which is found in Cross River state.
While at the University of Calabar, Stephanie Okereke obtained a Bachelors degree in English and Literary studies. Stephanie Okereke started her acting career back in 1997 when she acted in a movie called Compromise 11 and then later she also featured in another movie called Waterloo.
This was casted into these movie roles just before joining University. After a year of acting, Stephanie Okereke decided to put her acting skills on hold and join University to attain more qualifications.
She joined the University of Calabar where she started pursuing a Bachelors degree in English and literary studies. After a year of pursuing her studies, Stephanie Okereke decided to return to Nollywood and she acted in another movie called ‘Terror’ that was directed by Nigerian movie director called Teco Benson.
In 2007, Stephanie Okereke graduated from the New York Film Academy, she released a movie that was called Through the Glass and in this movie Stephanie Okereke played the role of a movie director, producer and also the script writer. She also played a role as an actress in the movie.
In 2009, this film was nominated in the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best screenplay. In 2014, Stephanie Okereke released another movie which was called ‘Dry’. In this movie she also served as the movie director, script writer, producer and actress.
This movie won very many awards and among some of these awards that were won was the 12th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
In 2016, the movie also won the Africa Magic Viewer’s choice awards where it won the best movie overall with the winning prize being a brand new car. Stephanie Okereke has starred in over 90 movies.
In 2005 in the month of April, Stephanie Okereke was involved in a serious car accident where she sustained serious injuries and also she got a broken leg while she was on her way to attending the Africa Movie Academy awards which took place in Yenagoa in Bayelsa State which is found in Nigeria.
In 2012, Stephanie Okereke got married to her lovely husband called Linus Idahosa and they organised a private wedding ceremony which was attended by her immediate close family members and other Nollywood actors and actresses. This wedding took place in Paris which is found in France.
In 2015, in the month of October Stephanie Okereke gave birth to her first child and the child was named Maxwell Enosata Linus.
In 2002, Stephanie Okereke participated in a beauty Pageant that took place in Nigeria and she was voted as the runners up for the beauty contest that was called the most beautiful girl in Nigeria.
Stephanie Okereke has been nominated for several awards and she has also won very many of those awards as a result of her tremendous and excellent work in the Nigerian movie industry.
Some of the awards that this talented actress and movie director has won are the 2003, Reel Award for best actress, 2006 Afro Hollywood award for best actress, and she was also nominated three times for the leading role at the Africa Movie Academy awards in the years 2005, 2009, and also 2010.
