The digital age in Uganda is taking over the age of writing letters and
using drums for communication.
Gone are those days when one had to wait for
months to be able to send a message and also get feedback.
These days
information travels very fast and it is very instant. Good enough in Uganda, we
can now have access to all these new platforms where there are lots of
opportunities that the youths and fresh graduates from University can use to
make some money.
There some Ugandans who
are already benefiting from setting up their YouTube channels and one of these
is Ann Kansimme the Ugandan comedian who has become very popular around the
world.
Today, I would like to give you a few tips on how you can create a YouTube
channel and start making money from it in Uganda.
1. Start by
setting up your YouTube channel
-Start you should start by opening a Google account which commonly known
as a Gmail account which is an emailing service from Google.
-After you have successfully opened up a Google account, you can now
sign into YouTube.
- You will now need to select the genre and the name of the YouTube
channel where you will be uploading your videos
-Ensure that you do select an
attractive thumbnail and also a cover image that is very appealing to your
viewers.
- You have now successfully created a YouTube channel and now you can
start uploading your videos on your new YouTube channel.
2. Tips that will help you earn money from your
YouTube channel
- You will need to post videos
that are of high quality regularly on your YouTube channel and the videos have
to appeal to a very large section of the global audience around the world.
- You should ensure that you do plan ahead of time so that you are
consistent with your work.
You should have videos that are ready to posted 2 or
3 weeks in advance so that you will have enough time to create quality content
without any pressure of meeting any deadlines.
- Ensure that you do follow some good video production basics like
ensuring that your video is able to be muted, good voice over and also you
should select good angles and shots for the videos that you do make.
You should
not forget to include subtitles for those videos.
3. Things that you will need to have in place in
order to earn money from your YouTube Channel
In order for you to be able to earn money from your YouTube channel, you
will need to sign up for the YouTube partner program which is the Google
adsense.
To be able to sign up for the YouTube monetisation program your
YouTube channel will need to have at least 4000 watch hours in the past one
year and also a minimum of around 1000 subscribers.
You can be able to check
these numbers on your YouTube Analytics after opening your YouTube channel
account.
When you have crossed the milestones of these numbers, you will now
need to connect your YouTube channel to the Google adsense account so that you
are able to be paid for the videos that have been monetised in your YouTube
channel.
4. Here are
some other ways in which you could increase your earnings from your YouTube
channel
Now that you have gained a lot of audience from your YouTube channel,
you can start making more money from your YouTube channel through making
sponsored videos.
For example if your channel is about cars, you could be able
to feature certain brands of cars on your channel at a certain fee from the car
manufacturers.
You can also make more money through product placements in your videos.
You could just incorporate products from the brand that is sponsoring your
videos into the video segments for example if your videos are being sponsored
by CocaCola, you could place a Coca cola bottle in your video and get paid for
it’s appearance in the video.
For all the unemployed youths out there, you
could start posting some videos on your YouTube channel and just may be you
will make some money in the long run.
